Just out of randomosity, could you like tell me why you love River Song/Melody Pond? :D I’d love to hear your opinion on what makes her a good character to you :)
"Not sure if I am an evil genius, or just someone who watches too much TV"
I am a Texas college student (studying Management of Information Systems), and I am a Tech enthusiast, computer geek and sci-fi fan.
I queue most posts but will do a post dump about once every few weeks.
and since this seems to be the main question you guys ask I am 5'6" tall, so ask me other things (funner things) also before you ask I am taken.
Do you think River Song is going to be around for a long time? Or do you think she’s going to fade away after ELEVEN leaves?Anonymous
I’m betting she’s going to be around as long as Steven Moffat is.
Now, with that said, I don’t think she’s going to be as consistent.
You have to understand that Steven created her to be the ‘one epic love of The Doctor’s life’ (whether one agree’s or not - that was his intention) and she’s not just going to flare and fade like his companions do, otherwise, what would be the point? Steven put way to much effort into her marriage to The Doctor and her knowledge of his future for River to just be a one-off.
I’m pretty certain that River has seen many Doctors and probably was even there for his actual death (And I speculate that because of her character - she’s a no-rules-timetraveler and it would be very like her to have found a way to be there when he dies).
BUT, and this is a big BUT, I don’t think we’ll be seeing her ON SCREEN like we normally do.
Perhaps once a season, or once every other season, or a special here and there - Perhaps references to her on screen in time with current companions but not like we did in season 6 and probably never again like that unless there is a specific story arc that involves her with a future incarnation (like timebabies or using his real name or IDK what have you) but the point is, I don’t believe she’s going to be such a present presence.
Steven loves her, he adores writing River Song, but he sure is not going to overuse her. She’s been in 3 seasons and hasn’t even touched 14 episodes yet - so it’s only logical that we will be seeing less of her physically as time goes by.
This doesn’t mean she isn’t around. She is most definitely still around, causing chaos and infatuating a myriad of species - and The Doctor knows this! We don’t see every chapter of their lives so they have times together we don’t witness, but The Doctor also knows that he can’t just pop in and out on River because they’re time tables are so complicated AND SHE COULD BE WITH A FUTURE HIM. That’s why usually both of them send out notes when they want to meet, so they don’t run into a future self unexpectedly.
AND THEY HAVE BEEN VERY VERY VAGUE ON HER AGE FOR A REASON.
Because she’s going to be around for a long time… As long as The Moff runs Who - River Song isn’t going anywhere. I mean she is The Doctor’s wife, there hasn’t ever been anything like it on screen in his 1200+ years, so you can bet your bottom that The Moff is going to figure out a way to make his character befitting of her title.
So yes, I believe she will be around. And it’s not a biased answer, even though I am in love with her character - it’s just how Moffat does things.
Yes I agree. River will be around as long as Moffat is which personally I hope is a long time as I love both of them.
I love River Song.
I love how she’s witty, sexy, flirty, cunning, ambitious, devious, wise and all manner of things. I love how she’s always a step ahead of the Doctor (in most incarnations), I love how she can make him flabbergasted, I love when they flirt.
She’s wonderful and she knows it, and she’s not afraid to show it. She has very little fear in her unless something has happened to her friends. She is filled with love and she’s just so cool.
I want to see more of her, especially the far-future version of her, the one that knows the older Doctor, the one before she dies in the Library. That incarnation is my favorite.
I love hearing her say “Hello, Sweety.”
I love River Song oh so much.
I agree. River is an amazing character and adds something I think DW has needed. DW uses the Sherlock Holmes character set, you have The Doctor as Holmes of course, the companions as Watson, the Master as Moriarty(a equal and opposite), now we finally have a Adler (an equal, with slightly less morals, who is a love interest of the Sherlock Holmes).
and Really I LOVE how Moffat has set her timeline and such, and I hope that he keeps using her sparingly and Randomly.
I’m having River feels.
And Eleven/River feels.
And I just want lots of Eleven/River moments tomorrow.
It’s been months without my OTP on screen. I just need to see them in love again.
IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?
randomwickedravings asked you:Just out of randomosity, could you like tell me why you love River Song/Melody Pond? :D I’d love to hear your opinion on what makes her a good character to you :)Sorry for doing this as a text post - but I know for a fact I’m gonna get long-winded and didn’t want to have a huge wall of text on everyone’s dash. So, text post so I can put it under a read more!
