In The Imposible Astronaut when River tells Rory about her relationship with the Doctor
- I really don’t believe what she says about “Every time we meet, I know him more and he knows me less.” I think that might be the general pattern of their travels but that is just not true from what we’ve seen of their timelines. There are times when they do move somewhat in the same order .
- I’m not exactly sure to what she is referring when she says “The first time I met him, he knew all about me.” Does she mean Let’s Kill Hitler? Somehow I don’t think so. I think (and I was working on a fanfiction for this but then I gave up because it sucked) it is possible that she met the Doctor when she was a little girl (maybe just after regenerating into Mels) and he told her about him, which is why she knew that the Doctor was always there to save the day (except at the Titanic and such). And she trusted him because he knew all about her. Anyway, I think she probably met him before her timeline in Let’s Kill Hitler… what do you think?
I never thought about the second one but that makes sense. unless the silence told her all that stuff about the doctor. but maybe that is what he did during the time between aGMGtW and LKH, River told him what he needed to do and then after they did what they needed to she drugged him to forget (because River does what River wants, and River doesn’t give a single fuck about timelines and continuity if anyone she loves is in danger (including her self) so she did what she had to to keep her self safe and to protect her timeline)

The Broken pair: more about the Doctor and River
this is an add on to This talking more about why the Doctor and River belong together.
Most of the Doctor’s companions see him as a savior. they rarely see his dark side and mostly ignore it when they do. But River doesn’t she sees his dark side, she was raised only knowing his darkside. and she not only knows of it, she calls him on it.
in aGMGtW River tells the Doctor what he already knew, that he isn’t always the good guy, he isn’t a savior, he is a monster. but she doesn’t just tell him that he is a monster like many villains have, she told him that he can try to do better, and nonverbaly she tells him that she still loves him.
and if anyone has the right to hate the doctor for his dark side its her. his darkside was why she was taken from her parents, why she was brainwashed and emotionally tormented but she doesn’t hate him she loves him.
so ya his companions give him a reason to try to hide his darkside, but she knows it but wants to help.
and he knows her darkside too but doesn’t hate her for it, he tries to help her through it.
so ya its a bit of a two haves make a whole, two broken people find eachother and fix eachother. that is why I love River/Doctor because they fix eachother not just her patching him or makes him hide stuff under the rug.
I accept River and Eleven as a couple because it’s canon, but I don’t ship it because the circumstances surrounding River’s birth and upbringing just make the Doctor forming a romantic attachment with her feel uncomfortable and weird to me.
the fact that she was raised to kill him?
well one of the most popular/famous romantic stories (no matter how much I despise it) was about two people who were raised to hate each other falling in love. so It’s not that odd the fact that someone who was brainwashed to kill ends up falling in love instead.
if the fact is that she was engineered to be his equal, well I like that. people shouldn’t fall in love with someone so different from them, it doesn’t make sense to me, you want someone who is similar to you, and I think the Doctor has finally found someone (since the time war) who is his equal.
so ya, I ship them they are my biggest OTP. because the Doctor doesn’t belong with the girl next door, he is a crazy, brilliant, adventurer and River is the same. and for once he has someone who not only loves him, but also knows his darkness and loves him still, and is his equal.

now I really want to see his first time with River. not for the smut (OK a bit for the smut) but to watch him trying to understand what River wants, and freaking out over seeing her with out clothing.

try greatest character ever. Moffat has to keep all her timeline in his head, and it all makes relative sense.
just her relationship, her family, her timeline, her character. SHE IS AMAZING
- Strax, the Sontaran, is brought back to life from A Good Man Goes to War.
- Clara is brought back to life in different time period(s).
- River Song in The Library better be next.

YES. also we need to know who brought back Strax (and how).
I don’t think Moffat believes in death. he brought back Strax and Clara, he brought the ponds back on more than one time.
so ya River won’t die. she is the favorite.
so if anyone gets their story book ending with the love of their life it’s River.

really glad they removed that, but it would suggest that he and River have more than one wedding which would be fun (also would make River=Marilyn even more 100% confirmed) and them keep having more wedding would be funny.
but the Doctor accepted that he and River got married back in the prequel to Asylum of the Daleks when he said that he couldn’t talk to the woman because he was married, so if he did say that it was probably just to wind her up (which he would do in return for all the times she winded him up)
