My friend who got me into Doctor Who wasn’t there when I first watched it and all I kept texting her every 5 minutes was “WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON???” (I was watching Day of the Moon). I now know to not ask questions while watching Doctor Who. XD you only need supervision if you don’t start with S1x01 (Rose) if you start there you can figure most of it out on your own (with a little help from the internet), or maybe its just that i am brilliant.
